Melt the butter in a pan and cook the onion. After a couple of minutes, add the garlic, cook for one minute. Add the cabbage and stir well. Add salt and pepper.
Add the potato to the pan and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, add the apple. Cook for 5 minutes.
Put the water and vinegar in the pan and simmer for 30 minutes.
Serve hot.
