Lentil and Pea Soup

This lentil and pea soup is super nutritious and filling. It's perfect for a winter day.

  • 3 slices bacon
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1/4 cups leek, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 6 cups chicken bullion
  • 1/2 cups lentils
  • 1/2 cups dried peas
  • 1/2 potatoes, large grated
  • 1 ham bone
  • 1/4 cups celery, chopped with the leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoons thyme
  • 1 leaf bay
  • 2 tablespoons red wine

  • Sauté the bacon until it releases its fat and add the onion, carrot, leek, garlic, celery, and let it cook for a few minutes.
  • Add the lentils, peas, potato, thyme, bay leaf, ham bone, and broth, and let simmer until everything is tender, about 45 minutes.
  • Add the wine and season with salt and pepper, remove the bay leaf and ham bone (removing all the meat from it).
