Sauté the bacon until it releases its fat and add the onion, carrot, leek, garlic, celery, and let it cook for a few minutes. Add the lentils, peas, potato, thyme, bay leaf, ham bone, and broth, and let simmer until everything is tender, about 45 minutes.
