Spinach Cream

Delicious spinach cream for babies from 6 months ahead and for children who don’t want to eat their vegetables, as this recipe will delight them.

  • 1 bunch spinach, cleaned and disinfected
  • 1 apple, large, peeled and cored
  • 1 pear, large, peeled and cored
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/4 white onions
  • 1 clove
  • 1 star anise pod
  • allspice berries
  • 5 cups water
  • 3 cups cow's milk
  • 1 teaspoon chicken bullion
  • 1 pinch parsley
  • salt , to taste
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

  • In a pot, place the 5 cups of water, spinach, apple, pear, star anise, clove, pepper, and garlic, which we previously cut in half and removed the center, which is a long green stalk, to avoid poor digestion.
  • Everything is put on the heat, and when it starts to boil, reduce the flame and cook for 10 to 15 minutes or until the vegetables are soft.
  • Remove the clove, pepper, and star anise, place the vegetables and fruits in the blender, add 1/4 onion, salt, broth, and blend with a bit of the cooking broth.
  • It is important to NOT throw away the broth in which the vegetables were cooked, as we will use it for cooking.
  • We put a pot on the heat and add the butter along with the oil; once they are hot, we add the blended mixture, along with the 3 cups of milk and a pinch of parsley, stirring to combine everything and waiting for it to boil, then remove from heat and serve hot.
