Hibiscus Water

Hibiscus water is made from the flower infused in hot water to extract the flavor and is sweetened with sugar. It has a tart flavor and is very popular in Jamaica, Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. Additionally, it is very economical and extremely refreshing.

  • 2 cups hibiscus flower, dried
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ice cubes
  • cinnamon stick, for garnish

  • For the concentrate, heat a pot over medium heat with water and the hibiscus flower, and cook covered until the flower is soft. Strain and reserve the liquid.
  • In a pitcher, mix the concentrate with the sugar, add ice, and serve in glasses.
  • Garnish with a cinnamon stick.
