Medium
  • Preheat the oven to 180° C (degrees Celsius).
  • Flour the tray or mold where the empanadas will be placed.
  • For the empanada dough: Place the corn flour, wheat flour, teaspoon of butter, pinch of salt, and pinch of sugar in a bowl; mix and integrate all these ingredients with the necessary amount of water.
  • Once the empanada dough is mixed and well integrated, set it aside to rest.
  • In a deep plate, add the egg, a pinch of salt, a pinch of pepper, a pinch of oregano, and beat until well combined.
  • Add the shredded meat (previously prepared to taste) to the egg mixture and integrate them until you obtain an even mixture.
  • Once the meat is mixed with the egg, it’s time to assemble the empanadas! So take our dough and make small balls that fit in the palm of your hand.
  • With the help of a rolling pin, roll out the dough until you have a flat, round, and thin dough.
  • In the center of our flattened dough, add a tablespoon of our meat and egg mixture.
  • Close the dough, shaping it in the traditional empanada style, and arrange it in the tray or mold for baking.
  • We repeat these last steps until we have all our empanadas.
  • Once we have them all arranged on the tray or mold, we will take them to the oven for approximately 30 minutes; we need to rotate the empanadas every 10 minutes so that they brown evenly on all sides.
  • Once they are golden, it is time to turn off the oven and let them sit for 5 more minutes. And that's it! Time to taste and enjoy this wonderful preparation.
