Stuffed Milanesa with Strips and Cheese

This chicken milanesa recipe will be a new way to enjoy this type of cut that is very popular among Mexican palates, as it is stuffed and breaded. Although milanesa can be made with different types of meat such as beef, chicken, or pork, stuffed or baked, with this version you will prepare a filling with strips and cheese, and you will also learn how to bread chicken milanesa with panko.

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 cups onion, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups Poblano chile, with strips
  • 1 cup corn kernels
  • 1 cup cream cheese

  • 4 chicken cutlets

  • 2 cups Oaxaca cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup panko

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the butter and onion; sauté for a few minutes and add the strips of poblano pepper and corn kernels, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 10 minutes; add the cream cheese. Set aside.
  • Season the milanesa with salt and pepper; fill with the strips and Oaxaca cheese, roll them up and secure with toothpicks.
  • Bread the milanesa with flour, egg, and panko; in a hot skillet with enough oil, fry the milanesa until fully cooked. Drain and set aside.
  • Serve the milanesa hot and accompany with sautéed broccoli and carrots. Enjoy.
