Almond Cake Decorated with Meringues

2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature
3 cups flour
3 cups sugar
1 cup sour cream, sour cream
1/2 tablespoons baking powder
6 eggs
1/2 tablespoons almond essence
1/2 tablespoons orange essence
2 cups vanilla frosting
1/2 cups almonds, sliced
cookies, or meringue for decoration

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
Prepare a round baking dish by greasing it with a little butter and flour.
In an electric mixer, mix the butter and sugar for 5 minutes. Add the sour cream and continue beating.
Add the flour and baking powder and continue beating. Add the eggs and essences and beat for 5 more minutes.
Pour into the baking dish and bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and let the cake cool. Unmold.
With a spatula, cover the entire cake with vanilla frosting and decorate with sliced almonds around all the edges of the cake.
