Almond cake decorated with meringues

This rich almond cake looks great on its own or decorated with cookies and meringues. It has a touch of orange and almond essence.

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream, sour cream
  • 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 tablespoons almond essence
  • 1/2 tablespoons orange essence
  • 2 cups vanilla frosting
  • 1/2 cups almonds, filleted
  • cookies, or meringue to decorate

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees centigrade.
  • Prepare a circular baking dish with a little butter and flour.
  • In an electric mixer , mix butter and sugar for 5 minutes. Add the sour cream and continue whisking.
  • Add flour and baking powder and continue whisking. Add eggs and essences and beat for 5 more minutes.
  • Pour into the refractory to bake and bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the cake to cool. Demolish.
  • With a splátula cover all the cake with the vanilla bitumen and decorate with the almond filleted around all the edges of the cake.
