Chocolate Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 1 1/2 cups cow's milk, for cake
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence, for cake

  • 4 1/2 cups wheat flour, for cake
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda, for cake
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder, for cake
  • 1 teaspoon salt, for cake
  • 1 cup chocolate, melted, for cake
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate, melted, for topping
  • 3/4 cups whipping cream, warm for topping
  • 4 cups cream cheese, for frosting
  • 2 cups icing sugar, for frosting
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence, for frosting

  • For the cake, beat the butter with the sugar, add the eggs one at a time, the milk, the vanilla extract, add the sifted dry ingredients, and finally the melted chocolate, beat until you achieve a consistent mixture. Pour into 3 cake pans of 20 cm in diameter and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, cool, and unmold.
  • For the topping, in a bowl mix the melted chocolate with the heavy cream and set aside.
  • For the frosting, beat the cream cheese with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until you achieve a consistent frosting.
  • For assembling, place one cake layer and cover with cream cheese frosting, place another cake layer and repeat until you have 3 layers. Cover the cake with the remaining frosting and smooth it out with a spatula. Pipe rosettes on the edges, pour the chocolate topping using a small jug, place the strawberries, refrigerate, slice, and enjoy.
