Easy Chocolate Cake

This easy chocolate cake recipe is very simple to prepare and is a classic dessert that you can make for any special occasion.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cups cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups cow's milk
  • 1/2 cups butter, smooth
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 cups icing sugar, for the frosting
  • 250 grams bittersweet chocolate, for the frosting
  • 6 tablespoons butter, for the frosting
  • 6 tablespoons water, for the frosting
  • apricot jam

  • In a bowl combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix on low speed with the mixer.
  • Add milk, butter, and vanilla. Beat with a mixer on low speed, then beat for 2 minutes on medium speed, add egg and beat for 2 more minutes. Pour into a greased and floured 22 cm round mold.
  • Bake at 180 °C for 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from the pan and let cool completely.
  • To make the frosting: melt chocolate and butter over low heat, remove from heat and add powdered sugar and hot water, stirring constantly. If necessary, add more water to achieve frosting consistency
  • Frost the cake and let it drip down the sides to cover it completely.
