Ginger Cake

This delicious ginger cake is very easy to prepare and turns out amazing thanks to the touch of crystallized ginger inside.

  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cups granulated piloncillo
  • 1/2 cups crystallized ginger, chopped
  • 1/2 cups water
  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon ginger powder
  • 1/4 tablespoons cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 tablespoons clove powder
  • 1/8 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 8 cherry liqueur

  • In an electric mixer, beat the sugar, egg, oil, piloncillo, and ginger.
  • Add the water and continue mixing.
  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and spices.
  • With a spatula, pour the flour into the egg mixture and mix well.
  • Pour the mixture into a round or loaf baking pan and bake at 150 degrees Celsius for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Remove from the oven.
  • Allow the cake to cool for 10-15 minutes and then unmold.
