Chocolate Pound Cake with Surprise Tree

  • 1 cup raw sugar
  • 1/2 cups butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 30 grams semisweet chocolate
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cups icing sugar, for the frosting
  • 2 tablespoons cow's milk, for the frosting

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Cut the pound cake into slices 1.5cm thick. Using a tree-shaped cookie cutter, cut out two trees from each slice of pound cake.
  • Combine the brown sugar with the eggs and vanilla.
  • Add the sour cream and melted chocolate.
  • Add the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Grease a pound cake pan and pour half of the mixture.
  • Arrange the slices of pound cake in the shape of a tree in a row in the center.
  • Pour the rest of the mixture on top.
  • Bake at 180°C for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for 30 minutes, unmold, and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  • For the frosting; combine the sifted powdered sugar with the milk. Once the cake is cool, pour the frosting on top and decorate with colored sprinkles.
