Beer-Battered Onion Rings

  • 2 cups flour, for the batter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder, for the batter
  • 1 tablespoon oregano, for the batter
  • salt, for the batter
  • pepper, for the batter
  • 1 1/4 cups lager beer, for the batter
  • 2 onions, in rings
  • vegetable oil, for frying
  • 3 tablespoons parsley, finely chopped
  • blue cheese dressing, for serving

  • In a bowl, mix the flour with garlic powder, oregano, enough salt, and pepper until well combined. Pour in the beer and mix with a whisk; you should obtain a semi-thick mixture. If necessary, add more flour or more beer to the preparation.
  • Dip the onion rings in the previous mixture and immediately fry in enough hot vegetable oil over medium-low heat, making sure to stir constantly so that the onion browns evenly. Remember that the amount of oil should completely cover the rings.
  • Drain the rings on paper towels. Serve immediately with chopped parsley and blue cheese dressing.
