Spicy Almond Snack

This delicious Spicy Almond Snack is a very quick healthy snack to make. The almond seed is very versatile and can be used to prepare many different recipes. For this recipe, we use dried chili powder, which, with the fat from the almond, sticks to it, filling it with flavor. You can prepare this Spicy Almond Snack as a snack or an afternoon treat.   • 1 guajillo chile, deveined and seedless
  • 2 árbol chiles, deveined and seedless
  • 1/4 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/8 teaspoons pepper
  • 1 cup almonds
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce, Valentina type
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, finely chopped

  • For the seasoning, lightly roast the chiles on a comal, being careful not to burn them, and blend the chiles until you get a very fine powder.
  • In a bowl, mix the chili powder with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  • In a skillet over low heat, toast the almonds until they release their aroma and remove.
  • In the same skillet, heat the olive oil and cook the chili mixture until it forms a paste. Add the almonds, hot sauce, and lime juice. Cook for a few minutes and remove.
  • Let the almonds dry and sprinkle with cilantro. Serve in containers.
