Serrano Ham and Fig Tapas

Tapas are a great appetizer before presenting any dish. They are also an excellent addition to gatherings where not much food will be served. They are easy and delicious, the perfect combination.

  • 1 baguette, or rye bread
  • 1 package cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 12 figs, clean and cut into thick slices
  • 12 slices serrano ham, thin
  • fresh cilantro, or parsley for garnish

  • Cut 12 slices of the baguette. Place them on a baking sheet, let them toast for 10 minutes or until they look golden. Allow to cool on a rack.
  • Place the cream cheese in a bowl and mash with a fork until it is smooth and spreadable.
  • Arrange the baguette slices on a serving tray and spread the cream cheese on them, then add 3 to 4 slices of fig along the bread. Finally, add a slice or roll of serrano ham. Garnish with a small leaf of parsley or cilantro.
