Fish Strips with Chipotle and Honey

Enjoy these crispy fish strips with a very crunchy coating, accompanied by a delicious sweet and sour chipotle and honey sauce. It is perfect as a snack to enjoy at any gathering during this Lent season.

  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cups honey
  • 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chipotle chile, breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 tilapia fillets, in thick strips
  • flour
  • 2 eggs, battered
  • 1 envelope Bimbo® crunchy bread crumbs, (175 g)
  • vegetable oil, for frying

  • For the sweet and sour sauce, heat the pineapple juice in a pot over medium heat and add honey, sugar, tomato sauce, ground chipotle, hot sauce, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 10 minutes or until thickened. Cool and set aside.
  • Season the fish with salt and pepper and coat it by passing it through flour, egg, and the crunchy Bimbo® breadcrumbs, ensuring it is completely covered.
  • Fry the fish strips in hot oil for 5 minutes or until golden. Drain on absorbent paper to remove excess fat.
  • Serve the fish strips with the sauce.
