Who said desserts can not be made on the grill? An excellent option for an easy dessert is this Grilled Walnut Pie. When you prepare this recipe for Grilled Pecan Pie you must make sure that the filling is not too beaten with egg, as that can generate too much foam when grilling.
To prepare the crust for the pecan pie, place the butter in cubes, the flour mixed with salt, the egg and sugar in a blender. Beat everything at medium speed until you create a dough. Reserve in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
Roll out the dough with a rolling pin and place it on the Weber® Plate or a oven proof pie dish. Cover completely, including the walls. Set aside.
Prepare your grill for medium indirect fire (350º - 450ºF or 175º - 232ºC).
In a bowl, place the maple syrup, corn syrup, vanilla and mix until the ingredients are incorporated. Add the melted butter and mix again. Finally add the 3 eggs and keep stirring until you get a homogeneous mixture.
Pour the mixture on the base of your pie, add the pecans in halves, chopped or whole and finally sprinkle a little salt on the surface. Place the pay to your grill on indirect medium heat for 35-40 minutes.
Remove the pie from the grill when the edges of the filling are firm and the center has a jelly consistency. Let stand for 15 minutes and serve.
