Nopal Salad with Tuna

At a street market, I tried a Mexican-style nopal salad that I loved, so I made it part of my menu. And since I enjoy it so much and eat it often, I wanted to make a light version, and the result is delicious.

  • 1 cup onion, in small squares
  • 2 cups tomato, in cubes
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 pickled chiles, in small cubes
  • 3 cups nopal, in small squares
  • 2 cans tuna
  • 1/2 cups fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • saltine crackers, or tostadas
  • 1/2 onions, whole

  • Bring 4 cups of water to a boil, once it starts boiling add the diced nopal, 1/2 whole onion, and 2 cloves of garlic. Let it cook for 10 minutes.
  • Once cooked, drain and rinse them. Set aside.
  • In a bowl or deep container, mix all the ingredients except for the avocado. Incorporate it at the end.
