Caramel sauce for desserts

This caramel sauce for desserts is very easy to prepare. It is delicious over vanilla ice cream, and to accompany any type of cake.

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3/4 cups evaporated milk
  • 1/2 teaspoons vanilla essence

  • Stir the sugar with the water in a saucepan over low heat. Leave until this color amber (without moving!).
  • Cover to dissolve the sugar crystals for 1 minute.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and add the butter and the evaporated milk.
  • Return the mixture to the fire until they dissolve and mix the ingredients.
