Nopales with Cheese and Chile de Árbol

  • 500 grams nopal, chopped
  • 1 onion, slice
  • 200 grams panela cheese, cut into cubes
  • 3 dried árbol chiles
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pinch garlic powder
  • salt and pepper

  • Boil the chopped nopales until they are tender.
  • Drain the nopales and rinse with cold water.
  • In a saucepan, fry the onion; add the nopales along with the chile de árbol to the saucepan.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Cook for 10 more minutes and adjust the seasoning.
  • Finally, turn off the heat and add the panela cheese in cubes, letting it rest for a few minutes.
