Potatoes with Cheese and Cream

  • 2 onions, large
  • 8 teaspoons butter
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup Manchego cheese
  • nutmeg

  • Wash and peel the potatoes and slice them.
  • Chop the onions and fry them in 2 tablespoons of butter.
  • In a pyrex with butter on the bottom, arrange the first layer of potatoes.
  • Melt the remaining butter and mix it with the cream.
  • Sprinkle the potatoes with salt and pepper and add 1/3 of the cream mixture.
  • Place half of the onions on top and add some cheese.
  • Arrange the second layer of potatoes and sprinkle them with salt, paprika, and nutmeg.
  • Cover them with one-third of the cream mixture and add the rest of the onions.
  • Put cheese on top and finish with the potatoes sprinkled with salt and pepper, the rest of the cream, and cheese.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and cook in the oven at 350 degrees Celsius for 45 minutes or until the potatoes are soft.
  • Remove the foil and let them brown for 5 minutes on top.
