Preparation
Wash and peel potatoes and cut into slices.
Cut the onions and fry them in 2 tablespoons of butter.
In a pyrex with butter in the bottom, arrange the first layer of potatoes.
Melt the remaining butter and mix with the cream.
Sprinkle the potatoes with salt and pepper and add 1/3 of the cream mixture.
Put half the onions on top and add part of the cheese.
Arrange the second layer of potatoes and sprinkle with salt, paprika and nutmeg.
Cover with the third part of the cream mixture and add the rest of the onions.
Put cheese on top and finish with the potatoes sprinkled with salt and pepper, the rest of the cream and cheese.
Cover with aluminum foil and cook in the oven at 350 degrees Celsius for 45 minutes or until the potatoes are soft.
Remove the paper and let them brown for 5 minutes on top.
