The Protein Diet

Some nutritionists recommend following a diet primarily based on proteins; however, contrary to what one might think, these should come from animal sources and not from cereals. In 1972, American physician Robert Atkins designed a diet that consists of consuming large amounts of protein and minimal carbohydrates for weight loss. Learn more about the guidelines of this diet.

The Protein Diet

Step by Step

Step 1
1
The consumption of large amounts of protein mobilizes fat deposits and suppresses appetite. Therefore, for this diet, you should include plenty of beef (but only grilled or baked).
2
On another day, instead of meat, opt for fish or seafood (grilled or baked).
3
Consume eggs for breakfast.
4
For a main meal, you can also choose chicken (grilled or baked).
5
Instead of eggs, you can have cheese for breakfast.
6
You should complement the main meal with one or two servings of fresh or cooked vegetables: Swiss chard, watercress, cabbage, spinach, or lettuce.
7
For dinner, you can have steamed vegetables or vegetable soup. Complement with fresh cheese, eggs, or turkey ham.
