It's no joke, it's a Guinness World Record, and it's the most impressive achievement in the world at least when it comes to pizzas. Italy has raised the name of its most iconic dish high, and it wasn't easy; the feat accomplished in the city of Naples in the south of the Mediterranean country took more than 100 chefs and several kilos of dough for the officials from the record book to consider the achievement as the largest pizza ever created on the planet. The south of Italy is known for being a proud and jealous guardian of "cucina della nonna," the specialties of grandma. On this occasion, 100 chefs in love with pizza achieved a world record by baking one of these Italian specialties nearly 2 kilometers long along the Naples waterfront. The largest pizza in the world required a small army of people and organizations to make it a reality. Among those involved, besides the cooks, were the city of Naples itself, the Univerde Foundation, and the Napoli Pizza Village restaurant. For the creation of this titan of sauce and cheese, 2,000 kilos of flour, 1,600 kilos of tomatoes, 2,000 kilos of fior di latte cheese, and 200 liters of olive oil were used. It is worth noting that all the products used were local from the Campania region, thus ensuring the originality and cultural weight of the final result. The preparation took just over 11 hours, and, as could be expected, visitors and curious onlookers around the event each received a slice of history. Feeling hungry?
