Tips for Cooking Healthy

Many times we seek to look better and eat in a healthier way without the need to go on a diet. If this is your case, then take advantage of these tips to cook without guilt.

Watch out for the dressing

One of the most dangerous agents when it comes to maintaining your figure is salad dressing. Most of them are quite high in calories, so we recommend putting store-bought dressings aside and making your own. All you need is olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, a little chopped garlic, and your favorite herbs. That’s all you need.

Fry and bake

One of the healthiest sources of protein is fish, specifically salmon. The problem is that if we bread or fry it with butter or oil, we lose those light benefits. What you can do is just fry your fillet on one side to get that crispy part and then put it in the oven for a few minutes. This way, you will get a dish that is lower in calories, juicier, and more nutritious.

Applesauce

If you like to bake, then this tip is for you. Whenever a recipe calls for oil or butter, you can reduce that amount by half and instead use unsweetened applesauce for the rest. Not only will it taste richer and fruitier, but it will also reduce the calories in the final product.

For pasta

There’s nothing wrong with wanting a good plate of pasta. What we recommend is that you enjoy it but also balance it. How about adding some squash and spices to a butter pasta? Or maybe use organic tomatoes instead of a pre-made ragù sauce. If you are using carbohydrates like spaghetti, just make sure to complement them with vegetables and protein like chicken or meat to balance it out.

Use spices

If you really enjoy eating vegetables but always smother them in high-calorie sauces, oils, and dressings, then it defeats the purpose. We recommend experimenting with spices like paprika and oregano to add flavor to those carrots, cucumbers, and jicama without increasing the calories.
