Gastronomic Recommendations
Although the Three Kings are not a widespread tradition throughout Mexico, eating rosca on this day may very well be, as there are already many extraordinary versions of this delicious sweet bread.
The Rosca de Reyes has its origins in pagan traditions, later adopted by the Catholic Church, which links it to the birth of Jesus and the adoration of the Kings of the East. Thus, the hidden child, which was once a bean, represents Herod's persecution to prevent Jesus from being born; the sugary parts represent the cardinal points, and the sweets are the jewels of the kings' crown.
Like many other culinary customs, the Rosca de Reyes has seen several modifications in modern times, resulting in the very controversial Baby Yoda Rosca, and other less provocative yet equally extraordinary versions, like the unicorn rosca. Below, we share some of them and where to find them.
The Rainbow RoscónWith a subtle flavor of pink guava, guava paste, crystallized figs, mezcal cherries, and toasted almonds, this rosca is colorful and has a delicious winter flavor. Find it at
Rainbow Bagels or order it for home delivery.

Some have sugary parts in green, but the preparation is quite similar to the traditional one, though the experience is finding a Grogu instead of the classic little figure.
There are several places offering these roscas for home delivery, such as
Kraneo Food or
Trooper Gourmet, for example.

Concha RoscaDelicious and in an individual version for those living alone, these concha roscas are what we all desire from the traditional rosca: the sweet bread with a piece of sugar and a little bit of guava paste and candies on the side. Find them and order them at
Matutina on January 6, 7, and 8.

Taquitos Las Cebollas.

Cien grados or
Tuna Tuna, for example.
