The heat from the oven through the water causes the denser mixture, that is, the flan, to go down to the bottom of the container, and conversely, the chocolate cake, which is naturally more porous, rises to the surface. When you take out your preparation, you get something exactly opposite to what you poured, the chocolate on top and the flan below. If you want to decorate and enhance the flavor, it is typical to spread it with dulce de leche and a bit of whipped cream and sprinkle with nuts or macadamia nuts. This is not just a delicious dessert but also one that children can help with and learn about cooking and chemistry, all at the same time. It turns out to be an interesting, tasty, and almost magical preparation in the eyes of some children, who, like me, will be fascinated by the creation of this dessert.
