Not all ingredients can be cooked the same way; some require more time, others more moisture, and others a specific utensil. To keep in mind how to take full advantage of a Pressure Cooker, here we leave you which ingredients you should avoid cooking in the Pressure Cooker®.

1) Viscous ingredients

Honey, applesauce, or oatmeal can block the pressure valves of the pot, as well as damage the performance of your appliance.

2) Thin meats

Chicken or beef fillets only require a few minutes in a pan to be ready. This type of product does not benefit from the Pressure Cooker, as it can become too dry or even disintegrate. In a Pressure Cooker slow-cooked stews or thick meats, such as pork leg or turkey breast, are recommended.

3) Pasta

This ingredient is not suitable for the Pressure Cooker® for two reasons: first, its cooking time is so short that it can disintegrate in a matter of minutes, and second, it can block the valves. How to Cook Pasta Properly

4) Sprouts

Although you can get delicious beans in the Pressure Cooker®, their sprouts, as well as those of soy, onion, or any other vegetable, do not have the necessary consistency to withstand the steam and pressure of the pot; the result would likely be a puree or mush far from that crunchy texture we love.

5) Sugar

There are recipes for cakes made in the Pressure Cooker®, these contain sugar, but mixed homogeneously. What could be complicated is putting sugar in the pot without much liquid, as it could caramelize, but it would cool down quickly and therefore crystallize, complicating the cleaning of the pot.
