What Mexicans Really Eat on May 5th

This may come as a surprise to some friends from the neighboring country to the north, but May 5th is not about nachos, fajitas, or Taco Bell.

In fact, it couldn't be further from the truth.

As Mexicans, when we commemorate the Battle of Puebla properly, we enjoy dishes that are a bit more traditional, not Tex-Mex specialties.

To give you an idea, here are examples of what we eat (and what we don't) on May 5th.

May 5th is a typically Mexican celebration.
