Odors in your refrigerator can be removed, even though it may seem impossible for that penetrating freezer aroma that we have all noticed to stop permeating your frozen fruit.

Because even though you might still eat what you've frozen despite the smell, that freezer aroma is not pleasant and ruins any drink to which you add ice. Many things can cause the freezer to develop odors and transfer them to the frozen foods stored inside, but bacteria are generally the culprits of persistent odors, and these pathogens can reside in your refrigerator and freezer in various places and forms.

Fortunately, freezer odors are easy to eliminate and can be prevented with simple maintenance.

1. Clean the ice tray

The ice cube tray that comes with your freezer is a place where bacteria can easily accumulate, even if it doesn't seem like it, as moisture gets trapped in the cracks, along the edges, and corners, not to mention the ice reservoir, which makes the ice taste strange and causes the freezer to smell odd.

Regularly cleaning the tray and ice reservoir with an antibacterial cleaner will eliminate existing bacteria, help prevent more from growing, and eliminate any strange odors.

2. Remove spoiled food

Sometimes, we forget about the food we froze, and if it's not stored properly, it can spoil even when frozen.
Bad food in the refrigerator can also cause freezer odor, with smells moving from one part of the appliance to another. Regularly check the stored food and discard or compost it when you see signs of spoilage.

3. Clean with baking soda

Create a mixture with one tablespoon of baking soda, half a liter of water, and the juice of one lemon, and use it to clean the inside of your freezer with a cloth.

Once you finish cleaning with the mixture, you can leave half a lemon inside or place a bowl of baking soda in the freezer with the door open for a couple of hours to absorb odors.

4. Vinegar with water

Mix one part apple cider vinegar with three parts water and heat until it starts to boil. Then remove from heat, pour the mixture into a heat-resistant container, and place it in the freezer for 6 hours.

When you remove the containers, your freezer will have a fruity aroma.

5. Ground coffee

Place a bowl of ground coffee in the closed freezer for a couple of hours; with this method, unpleasant odors will be absorbed.

These 5 tips are simple, but we assure you they will be effective in eliminating freezer odor, and you will never have to deal with it again.
