Vodka is a distilled spirit that has existed since the Middle Ages and back then it had medicinal uses, and you may not know it now, but this beverage has many other uses besides making delicious Bloody Marys.

Since vodka has a high concentration of alcohol but is practically odorless and tasteless, it has the potential to serve as a home remedy for cleaning and even disinfecting, and you can also use it as a mosquito repellent or to polish your jewelry.

This trick is simple because you just need pure vodka, so if you have tamarind vodka, you better drink it, because it is not ideal for this job. Remove the sheets from the bed and spray a little vodka with a sprayer. You can do this every three months if you wish.

With a little vodka, you can also avoid mosquitoes when you go camping, for example. The alcohol kills insects and will ensure a much more comfortable outdoor experience; you just need to spray a little vodka on your skin and you're good to go.

Another home trick with vodka is that you can make a room spray with the distilled spirit and a little of your favorite essential oil. Just mix a few drops of vodka with about 12 drops of essential oils (we suggest lavender) and 1/4 cup of safflower oil or sweet almond oil. Then place the mixture in a glass jar with reeds or paper straws, so the aroma can escape.

Make a homemade degreaser by mixing equal parts of vodka and water and use it on cabinets, countertops, pantries, the top of range hoods, and any part of your kitchen.

Another way to make a multipurpose cleaner with this ingredient is to mix 1 1/4 cups of water, 1/4 cup of vinegar, and 1/4 cup of vodka; you can also add 15 drops of lemon essential oil. This cleaner can be used to disinfect all kitchen surfaces and it also smells amazing.
