Breakfast is the most important meal of the day; it is the moment when you fill up with energy and activate your metabolism, but it is also when you set the tone for the rest of the day. There are small mistakes that could be ruining your daily nutrition without you knowing, and we want to share some so that when you have a healthy breakfast, you know exactly how you are benefiting.
Juice is delicious and healthy, but remember that by squeezing the fruits you lose a lot of fiber and vitamins, and you end up with quite a bit of sugar. It is more advisable to eat the fruits rather than drink them, but if you want a morning juice, make sure to only have a glass and, if possible, choose one with pulp to retain some of that fiber that will help your digestive system.
Even though a little fruit with cottage cheese or cereal with milk are healthy breakfasts, they are not completely balanced. You need protein in the morning to help your muscles and to have more strength and energy. It’s perfectly fine to have fruit for breakfast, but also prepare yourself a couple of fried eggs, turkey ham, or sausages to complement.
Eating only vegetables or fruit is not necessarily good; it’s best to balance. What you should consume in the morning, regardless of which specific ingredients you choose, is: fruit and vegetables covering half your plate, a quarter of grains and seeds, and another quarter of the plate filled with protein. This way, you’ll ensure that you have a balanced and healthy breakfast.
The amount matters; having just a yogurt or a banana for breakfast does not help at all. In fact, it slows down your metabolism, making it harder to burn the calories from lunch and dinner, which can lead to weight gain. Prepare a full, rich, and substantial plate to start the day off right, and don’t worry, you’ll burn off the excess throughout the day.
Beyond the milk and juice you consume, you should drink at least half a liter of plain water in the morning. This helps to hydrate you but also to distribute the nutrients you eat throughout your body; otherwise, the sugar and fat consumed along with the protein do not get distributed and can cause abdominal fat, which no one wants to gain from breakfast.
