If you already have it, don't let it go. And if not, complement the diet.
It's time to become 'oranges'! And no, we don't say this because of the Dutch National Team or the famous movie 'Clockwork Orange', but because of the fruit that many of us often buy to make juice for breakfast.
As everyone knows, the orange is a fruit rich in vitamin C, which was essential for us to combat those annoying illnesses during the cold season, such as sore throat, flu, cough, among other bothersome diseases.
That’s why, regardless of whether you were one of the lucky ones who enjoyed perfect health during the winter that is about to end (welcome spring), we have some tips for why you should keep this sweet and juicy fruit with its high vitamin C content in your diet.
Rejuvenates cells in the body
The orange increases the cellular vitality of the body and activates many of the body’s functions, thus aiding in the rejuvenation of cells.
Strengthens the nervous system and blood vessels
Not only is vitamin C the star when it comes to the health benefits of oranges. Vitamins P and B are also among the nutrients found in the fruit, benefiting both our nervous system and blood vessels for better performance.
Fluidizes the blood and eliminates uric acid
Speaking of blood, the components of the orange, such as minerals and the aforementioned vitamin C, alkalize the blood, allowing for better flow. Likewise, it can prevent degenerative diseases such as vision loss or deafness, due to its excellent antioxidant properties.
Increases good cholesterol
When we hear about cholesterol, we commonly associate it with something bad and also with being overweight; however, like everything in life, it has two sides—the good side and the one we don't like. Well, since oranges contain hesperidin, they are a faithful ally of the good side of cholesterol and decrease its evil twin within our body.
Enhances sexual relations
As we can see, oranges play a role in all aspects of our lifestyle. Consuming this fruit daily helps increase libido and stimulates the sexual glands of the body.
Things to consider
The orange should be eaten naturally. There are brands that sell juices, which have already lost all the benefits mentioned earlier due to chemical modifications. It is best to avoid these types of beverages and consume the fruit instead.
On the other hand, when we buy oranges, it's common to wonder about the characteristics to choose the best ones, with good flavor and not dry. One way to gauge which ones to choose is by their weight; the heavier they are, the more juice they will have.
Putting oranges in the refrigerator helps preserve them. It is recommended to keep them at room temperature; however, the cold will allow them to last much longer—about two weeks.
