We were taken aback when we saw the September cover of Self magazine, featuring Kerry Washington looking slimmer than ever; as if she hadn't had a child just a couple of months ago.
Yes, it's true that the star of Scandal has the good fortune of having a super slim body, but she takes care of it with a lot of dedication and effort.
Kerry follows an exercise routine 6 times a week with her personal trainer, Julie Turner. In fact, she has a small space to work out on the set of Scandal, so she can train every day before filming.
What's the secret?
Pilates.
Kerry Washington lost all her pregnancy weight doing Pilates just as she has been doing for years.
The actress claims that for her it is much more than just exercise; it is a way of life that forces her to take a pause for introspection every day.
“There are many exercises where you are forced to leave yourself out of the room to do it… With Pilates, I can bring out my true self. I cry, I laugh. I get to ask myself how my body is feeling each day, what I need to do and work on each day, how I can take care of myself and push myself out of my comfort zone. How can I love myself and at the same time challenge myself in the same exercise?”
Kerry begins her training every day, from Monday to Saturday, at 6:30 am.
“I have to take care of myself to live the life I want to live… It's important to have rest days, but in practice, if I don’t work out for, I don’t know, 3 days, I feel worse, not better.”
Kerry Washington takes her Pilates practice a step further… She not only exercises her muscles but also dedicates time and effort to understand her body, challenge it, and always take it a step further than what she did the day before.
Without a doubt, this woman will stand out as the best spokesperson for the method, much like Jennifer Aniston did in the early 2000s when we all wanted those arms and that abs.
Now Kerry continues to show us that this training is more relevant than ever and with excellent results.
