What are the benefits of consuming cereals

Cereals provide carbohydrates and fiber. The same goes for vitamin D and iron, which are generally not easy to include in the diet, yet cereals would incorporate them in the recommended amount. Among other things, cereals help balance blood sugar levels, provide us with a quarter of the daily recommended vitamins and minerals by specialists; and as if that weren’t enough, they are also low in fats and do not cause weight gain. In summary, cereals help us maintain a varied and balanced diet, are inexpensive, and very easy to incorporate into our meals at any time of the day, so we have no excuse not to consume them daily. More benefits of cereals include:
  1. They contain a large amount of vitamins and nutrients essential for children's growth. Studies show that, among different cereals, their caloric content does not vary much, although their nutritional contributions do.
  2. They contain high biological value proteins, unsaturated fats made up of a wide spectrum of essential fatty acids, and vitamins B1 and E.
  3. They are considered the main source of energy due to their contribution of carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
  4. Whole grains provide a greater feeling of fullness due to their fiber content. Additionally, they prevent constipation because they stimulate intestinal activity.
  5. It has been proven that their consumption prevents arteriosclerosis and coronary diseases, as well as reducing cancer risks, especially colon cancer.
  6. The most commonly used are corn, wheat, and rice, as well as barley, rye, and oats. Except for wheat, oats, and rye, most are made up of starch, which constitutes gluten.
