What you should stop eating if you're going to cut carbs

To make a long story short, last week I went to the doctor and he told me that I have a very bloated abdomen, so I need to eat fewer carbohydrates and dairy. For that reason (and for reasons I will explain when we finish this experiment), for the next two weeks, I am determined to "cut carbs." I don’t want to stop eating some foods, like fruits, because I need to avoid getting sick this month, but at least I'm saying goodbye to this list of very high-carb foods that won't return to my life for a while.

1. Flour

Not surprisingly, you need to stop eating bread if you want to reduce carbs. Bread, pizza, rolls, cookies, anything that contains flour must be avoided. Also pasta, grains, and legumes!

2. Sugar

There are three types of carbohydrates: sugar, starch, and fiber. Some are better than others, which is why we mainly need to cut out sugar. Refined, brown, honey, fructose, all types of sugar are carbohydrates that you should eliminate if you want a low-carb diet. It’s better to get them from a handful of strawberries, for example, than from a tablespoon of sugar. Also avoid sodas or other sweetened beverages.

3. Cereals

It doesn’t matter if it’s the sweetest or the healthiest; cereals don’t help with our goal of reducing abdominal bloating. This includes granola.

4. These fruits

Apples, bananas, figs, and all nuts should be avoided. Also juices and of course jams. It’s better to eat berries, which have fewer carbs but many vitamins. You can buy them frozen to make smoothies in the mornings. You can also eat avocado, chayote, and watermelon.

5. These vegetables

Interestingly, carrots, peas, and corn (everything that comes chopped in those cute frozen bags, unfortunately) have a lot of carbs. Consume leafy green vegetables and plenty of broccoli. You should also avoid potatoes and sweet potatoes, but you can eat all the cactus you want.

So, what can I eat?

Basically proteins, although consuming a bit from the previous list doesn’t hurt. Basically chicken, turkey, fish, beef, seafood, all of this you can consume. Also eggs, butter (not margarine), water, coffee, and tea. Interestingly, mayonnaise is low in carbs as well as mustard, sour cream, and cream cheese. Basically, if you’re not looking for a very strict diet, the easiest thing is to stop eating bread, sugar, pasta, and rice. Don’t focus too much on fruits and vegetables; instead, try to simplify your diet by eating pure protein (without breading or frying) and eliminating all sugary drinks. Good luck! Original article.
