Many times we think that indulging a little and breaking our diet by consuming fast food will lift our spirits. Usually, the result is the opposite. According to recent studies,
frozen food and fast food can cause symptoms of depression. This is not only a result of our clothes fitting tighter but also due to elements contained in these foods that
can cause alterations in the chemicals responsible for regulating our mood. That’s why we provide you with some tips to overcome cravings and understand
why to avoid fast food.
Beware of Carbohydrates
There is a reason why many fast food products, like burgers and hot dogs, have bread as a base. This is because it produces
serotonin, a substance that gives us a slight momentary feeling of pleasure that can quickly turn into fatigue and depression. Instead of eating such flours, it’s better to opt for oatmeal, whole grains, and rice, as they are healthier carbohydrates that digest more slowly and thus delay hunger.
Beware of Fats
During cold seasons, we may feel the urge to eat caloric and greasy dishes; in fact, that fat can help keep us at slightly warmer temperatures, but there are much better sources to maintain temperature.
Fishes with good fats like
salmon and
sardines are good examples. Anything that contains Omega 3 in large amounts is recommended.

Beware of Sugar
Sometimes we crave sweets and chocolates,
foods that, although they provide energy, can lead to a rebound that may also cause seasonal depression. If you want to wake up with energy, get it from caffeine; a good coffee or green tea will be the perfect remedy for cold and tiring days.
