As is well known, in Mexico we are lovers of sweet bread and we have a great offer in local bakeries: ears, cookies, piloncillo pigs, banderillas, bows, donuts, and bolillos, however, the favorite is the concha.

The conchas are a round and very fluffy bread, which has a sweet topping that makes it look very similar to a sea shell. As for its origin, this is somewhat uncertain. In Mexico, wheat flour arrived with the colonizers and sweet bread with the French, so it is speculated that the sweet concha was inspired by brioche bread, to which a rich topping was added.

Best of all, this gastronomic and cultural icon is not only found in bakeries, as it can now be part of your outfit thanks to Adidas. On May 4th, two popular bakeries began giving away strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla conchas in bags with the brand's logo, causing a stir among foodies and fashionistas.
