Burger Day: 5 places to try the best in CDMX

By Staff - 2025-05-21T11:11:23Z
Year after year, May 28th is celebrated as one of the most anticipated days of the year: the Burger Day! And there’s no better way to pay homage to this dish than by visiting some of the most delicious and creative places in CDMX. From classic proposals to creations with surprising ingredients, here’s a tour of restaurants that will make this day dedicated to burgers memorable.

It’s worth mentioning that although Mexicans love tacos and snacks, burgers also hold a special place in our hearts and on our palates. So much so that we prepare them on the grill, add fried chilies, dress them with sauces, and even put Mexican cheeses on them. Celebrate Burger Day with these 5 options!

1. Open House Burgers

Located in the Nápoles neighborhood, this project by Daniel Aguilera was born from a love for good food. Here, every burger is prepared with homemade meat, sourdough bread, and quality cheeses. The menu features stuffed burgers, such as:

● German: beef and sausage with melted gouda.
● French: gruyere with glazed bacon.
● Chilango: stuffed with pastor and Oaxaca cheese.

There are also vegetarian options, sliders, and a summer red wine to accompany. This year, Open House Burgers is going all out with an unmissable promo for Burger Day: 2-for-1 on all burgers all day long.

Additionally, they participate in a special dynamic: when you ask for the bill, you can enter a surprise raffle. You can draw a ticket and, if luck is on your side, you’ll win an exclusive gift from the house.

Located in Coyoacán, this place is a reference for trying local and independent labels, and also for pairing them with a good burger.

The menu offers two must-try options: the classic burger, with artisan bread, juicy meat, caramelized onions, and butter mushrooms, and the special burger, with bacon, pineapple, onion rings, and BBQ sauce. Both are served with French fries and are the perfect pairing for any pint. If you love burgers and well-made beer, Beertlan is your destination this Burger Day.

4. Barrio Sur

For more than 20 years, Barrio Sur has been located in the San Ángel Inn neighborhood, an old house with a characteristic colonial style that, through its aromas and flavors, manages to transport you to a little corner of Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. You can enjoy their delicious Parri-Burger, a burger made with grilled filet, with homemade artisan bread, Swiss cheese, arugula, tomato, and caramelized onions, accompanied by French fries.

You can pair your burger with a wide variety of Uruguayan wines , reds like Don Pascual Tannat or if you prefer white wine, Don Pascual Chardonnay, or enjoy a high-age wine like Preludio by Familia Deicas among others imported specifically for the restaurant that you will only find here. The space and its elegant decor will make you feel in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

5. Brew Brew

Brew Brew, a space with breakfasts all day and a coffee bar that also has cocktail options. This project started in Roma as a place to eat well while being comfortable, and quickly became one of the favorites for breakfast, brunch, and working from home.

Although Burger Day is usually reserved for the classics of bread, meat, and cheese, this year we suggest celebrating with a delicious twist: the waffle sandwich from Brew Brew Café. This original alternative reimagines the burger experience by replacing traditional bread with fluffy, golden waffles. Inside, ham, manchego cheese, bacon, egg, and a touch of mayonnaise.

It’s the perfect combination of sweet and savory, ideal for those looking to step out of the ordinary without losing the spirit of the celebration. Because sometimes, the best burgers… aren’t even called burgers.
