The Michelin Guide is here to stay in Mexico, and with its 2025 edition, new stars have also arrived: Máximo Bistrot, Masala y Maíz, Expendio de Maíz, Olivea, and Lunario. In the Michelin Guide 2025, a taqueria offering tacos de canasta and many other affordable places were also included.  

In Mexico, we know that food is very important to Mexicans, which is why we are sharing a list of the 39 cheapest places to eat from the Michelin Guide. There are taquerias, snacks, and Mexican food. Which restaurant will you visit first?

CDMX 

Mexico City is the undisputed gastronomic capital of the country. Here, food is an essential part of daily life and has become a tourist attraction and a cultural gem. 

If you don't want to spend thousands of pesos on dinner, we have good news for you, as the Michelin Guide also offers good, nice, and cheap recommendations. Here are the cheapest Michelin Guide places in CMDX!  

La 89 

Here you'll find delicious street food. Choose from tacos, tortas, and even flan. What you absolutely must try is the quesabirria. 

Where? Colima 134, Roma Norte, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.

Tacos del Valle 

It's paradise for taco al pastor lovers. Come on in and enjoy their variety of tacos, from the classics to options like Arabic tacos.  

Where? Av. Álvaro Obregón 130, Roma Norte, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.  

Ricos Tacos Toluca 

This is a must-stop if you visit the historic center of the capital. All their sausages are a gem, so you can't go wrong.  

Where? López 103, Centro, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX. 

El Califa de León

This taqueria made waves in 2024 when it became the first establishment of its kind to receive a Michelin star. Here, there's only gaonera taco, and the lines are long. Visit them with a lot of patience! 

Where? Av. Ribera de San Cosme 56, San Rafael, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.  

Tacos Charly

Their specialty is suadero and pastor tacos. The most important thing here is to arrive early and bring cash, as they don't accept cards. 

Where? Av. San Fernando 201, Toriello Guerra, Tlalpan, CDMX. 

Castacán 

Don't miss their cochinita pibil tacos and also the lechón tacos. The sauces are also a must!  

Where? C. Puebla 387, Roma Norte, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.

Los Consentidos del Barrio 

Here, the charcoal-grilled taco is the king of the place, especially the arrachera ones, which are perfectly seasoned and the meat very juicy.  

Where? Manzanas 27-B, Tlacoquemecatl del Valle, Benito Juárez, CDMX. 

Taquería el Paisa 

Do yourself a favor and order some suadero and pastor tacos. Although their menu is small, it's big in flavor.  

Where? Joaquín García Icazbalceta 36, San Rafael, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.

Siembra Tortillería 

This little corner in Polanco offers great options like the fish al pastor taco, the fideo seco with bone marrow taco, or the campechano with green chorizo. Enjoy your meal!  

Where? Av. Isaac Newton 256, Polanco, Miguel Hidalgo, CDMX.  

Comal Oculto

Drowned flautas, shrimp enfrijoladas, chicharrón gorditas, and even metate chocolate cookies... You can find all this at Comal Oculto! But be careful, they're moving and will soon announce their new location.  

Where? Gral. Gómez Pedraza 37, San Miguel Chapultepec, CDMX.

Molino El Pujol 

This small spot reminds us that there's also greatness in simplicity. It's perfect for grabbing snacks like tamales, tacos, chilaquiles, and enfrijoladas. Also, take some freshly made tortillas with you!  

Where? Benjamín Hill, 146, Hipódromo Condesa, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.

El Vilsito 

The taqueria that has even appeared on Netflix! By day it's a mechanic's shop, but by night they sell exquisite pastor tacos and let's not even mention the gringas. Everything here is an explosion of flavors!  

Where? Av. Universidad 248, Narvarte, Benito Juárez, CDMX.

Taquería El Gran Abanico 

There are plenty of options here for those with a hearty appetite: carnitas tacos, rib tacos, pastor tacos, cecina tacos, and much more. Remember to bring cash!  

Where? Gutiérrez Nájera S/N, Tránsito, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.  

Taquería El Jarocho 

With over 80 years open to the public, this taqueria has established itself as one of the best in the Mexican capital. Here, the stewed ones are the best, but there are also campechanos.  

Where? Tapachula 94, Roma Norte, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.  

Cariñito Tacos

For some out-of-the-ordinary tacos, Cariñito's are a must. There are Cantonese-style options, with eggplant and even crab. You'll love the fusion of Mexican and Asian flavors! 

Where? Guanajuato 53, Roma Norte, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.  

Tacos Hola El Güero 

These stewed tacos are an institution in CDMX. All the stews are exquisite, and the tacos come with a second helping. Order them with beans! 

Where? Ámsterdam 135, Hipódromo, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.

Taquería Los Milanesos 

Milanesa tacos are one of the gems of Mexican cuisine, so try these, which are made with breaded pork chop. Remember they only accept cash!  

Where? Veracruz 156, Álvaro Obregón, CDMX.  

Barbacoa Gonzalitos

You will fall in love with their northern-style tacos. Try the barbacoa ones in flour or corn tortillas.

Taquería Los Cocuyos 

One of the most famous taquerias in CDMX! Try their suadero, pastor, campechano, tongue tacos, and more.  

Where? Simón Bolívar 67, Centro, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX. 

Nicos 

This restaurant in Azcapotzalco has become one of the guardians of Mexican gastronomy. Don't miss the mole, the sope with bone marrow, the cecina taco, and the cream soup.  

Where? Av. Cuitláhuac 3102, C Clavería Azcapotzalco, CDMX.  

Raíz

Mexican food with a contemporary touch! Try the ricotta bocol, the enmoladas with escamoles, the octopus infladita, the huitlacoche tostada, and finish with the mamey panna cotta.

Tacos de Canasta Los Especiales 

The classics of the historic center! Don't miss their potato, bean, and chicharrón tacos. Accompany them with pickled chilies and lots of green salsa.

Where? Av. Francisco I. Madero 71, Centro, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.  

Tacos Los Alexis 

The fresh and excellent quality ingredients stand out. There are tacos, costras, and volcanes.  

Where? Chiapas 46, Roma Norte, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.

Taquería Los Parados 

Go with a lot of hunger and order some pastor tacos, the meat juice, the arrachera pastor, steak, or rib tacos.
