What to bring if you're invited to a Mexican party?

Finally, September has arrived, and this month is mainly characterized by the Patriotic Holidays, during which Mexicans showcase our cooking talents as well as our celebration skills. Since almost everyone invites us to celebrate with family or friends, we created a guide for you to check off everything that should not be missing from your next Mexican party.

What to bring if you're invited to a Mexican party?

Board games

One of the most incredible qualities of parties is the way we Mexicans have fun, so if you're invited to a patriotic celebration, don’t forget to bring a traditional lottery game or any other game that will keep everyone entertained for hours.

A good playlist

In addition to the classics with mariachi, a musical variety that everyone enjoys is a must. Don’t forget to include songs for dancing, singing, and especially those that make you shout “¡VIVA MÉXICO!” at the top of your lungs.

Some song options we recommend are:

La Bikina by Luis Miguel
Payaso de Rodeo by Caballo Dorado
La Chona by Los Tucanes de Tijuana
Son de la Negra by Mariachi Vargas de Tecatitlán
El Rey by Vicente Fernández

Lots of snacks

Although traditional Mexican food and garnachitas will be present at the patriotic celebrations, it's always good to arrive with your hands full of snacks because chips or sweet treats, like seed mixes, are ideal for “killing hunger” when the cooking team takes a little longer. Plus, when board games or dancing start, it’s always nice to have a chip or something sweet to munch on.

We recommend bringing something from the Bitz line that you can find at any OXXO because it has everything from savory chips, enchiladas, and jalapeño chips to peanuts and delicious seed mixes. You won't go wrong with any of these options!

Very important: Ice

A good party cannot be without drinks, whether alcoholic or virgin, and Mexican aguas frescas; to ensure no one ends up with a warm drink, it’s always a good idea to bring a bag of ice because that’s the first thing to run out.

Condiments

Make life easier for the host by bringing the essential condiments that make Mexican dishes delicious. Don’t forget to bring some tostadas, refried beans, a cream (it's never too much), some spicy salsas, and even jalapeños in case they’re needed. We recommend bringing some piquín chili because it’s ideal for preparing drinks like a michelada... of course, don't forget a six-pack of beers or a bottle of tequila!

Mineral water

When organizing a party, it's very common to think about buying sodas in all flavors, but there are some drinks in mixology that require mineral water, so it’s always good to bring a bottle.

After checking off this list, you have everything you need to enjoy the party to the fullest and shout at the top of your lungs “¡VIVA MÉXICO!” with the people you love. To buy everything you need, remember you can find it all at your nearest OXXO because OXXO is just around the corner from your life.
