This is what has happened in France, a country that has made a statement against pollution by stopping the use of utensils that are seen everywhere in the world.

Plastic spoons, knives, and forks have disappeared from France. Their sale and use is illegal, as the French country makes an effort to help as they can to stop climate change.

Unless the product you use for eating is made of biodegradable materials, it is no longer allowed.

Now, the law will come into effect in 2020, as part of the Energy Transition for Green Growth initiative, which is in turn a key piece of the European effort to reduce human impact on the environment. It also turns out that it won’t be so easy since plastic-producing companies like Pack2Go from Brussels plan to sue this law and ask the European Union to intervene.

This issue promises to drag on as it is not only France that is starting to take measures against climate change; countries like Spain and Germany will also try to implement new laws in the coming years.

The problem is that the industrial interests of Europe will not let this happen so easily. In fact, business owners say that the new French law will even create more waste, as people will think they can leave their biodegradable cutlery anywhere.

After all, this is a trend; a region in India called Karnataka has already banned the use of plastic throughout the state. In San Francisco, plastic bags have been removed from supermarkets since 2007, and in the United Kingdom, the use of each bag they want to carry their shopping raises the price by 5 cents per unit.
