Yes, breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it gives us the energy boost we need for our daily activities. It is also important to include nutritious ingredients in breakfast, such as eggs, vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. In this sense, in Mexico we have eggs several times a week, so here we explain how many eggs you can eat per day.  

And who can blame us for having eggs for breakfast several times a week? In Mexico, we make them Mexican style, with chorizo, in green sauce, in tortas, with chilaquiles, in migas, and even with mole. However, as much as we love this protein-rich ingredient, do you know how many eggs you can eat in a day? Here’s what we found out!

How many eggs can you eat in a day? 

Whether you prefer boiled eggs, scrambled, fried, or even poached, the reality is that it’s an ingredient that is almost always present at breakfast time. However, how many eggs can you eat in a day? At Kiwilimon, we did some research and here’s what we found! 

Want to know how many eggs can be eaten in a day? Experts explain that you can consume up to 7 eggs per week; that is, one egg a day. 

On the other hand, Harvard University mentions that although science has not yet given us an exact answer, recent studies and research indicate that “healthy people will not suffer any harm if they eat up to 7 eggs a week.” It also emphasizes that this ingredient is one of the most nutritious we can consume and that it is “relatively low in calories and saturated fats while being rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals.” Furthermore, the university explains that other nutrients found in eggs are good for vision, the brain, and the nervous system.

In the case of the portal Mayo Clinic, experts indicate that “most healthy people can eat up to 7 eggs a week without affecting heart health.” However, it also mentions that often eggs are accompanied by bacon, butter, and other high-fat ingredients, so it's advisable to replace these types of ingredients with vegetables and whole grains.  

Finally, the portal Cleveland Clinic states that “it is fine to eat one egg a day, including the yolk, every day, as long as you do not have cardiovascular diseases and have healthy levels of blood cholesterol.”  

As you can see, experts agree that you can eat 7 eggs a week or one a day, but this only applies to people who are healthy and do not suffer from heart diseases or have elevated cholesterol levels.  

So, in addition to preparing yourself a vegetable-filled omelet or poached eggs with sourdough bread and avocado, consult your primary care physician to indicate how many eggs you can eat in a day, as everyone’s health and metabolism are different.
