Sometimes, in the rush of life, we forget to drink water. We may not realize we are dehydrated, but our body sends us important signals that we should not ignore. Once you recognize these signs, it's easier to remember to take a moment for yourself and drink a glass of water.
Our friends from
ActitudFem share with us the 5 easiest signs to recognize:
1. You have a headache
Many times, that headache that strikes you can be cured by the water you drink to wash down the aspirin. When we become dehydrated, this is one of the clearest signals. If you feel dizzy, it may also be due to a lack of water.
2. You have visible bags under your eyes
If when you remove your bag from your shoulder you discover it has left a mark, or if when you take off your pants at night you have deep red lines even though they aren't tight, it may be that your skin is lacking a bit of water.
3. The color of your urine
If it is completely clear, you are drinking too much water; if it is amber or so yellow that it is almost orange, you need to drink water. The color of the urine of a well-hydrated person should be pale yellow.
4. Dry lips
If you feel your mouth is dry or your lips are constantly chapped, it may be a sign that you need to drink more water.
5. You don't go to the bathroom
Being constipated can also be a sign of lack of water. If you don’t go to the bathroom as often as you should, try drinking a couple more glasses of water per day to see if it makes a difference (eating fiber and adding fruits to your diet also helps).
Remember that our body needs water for all its processes, so whenever you remember, take the necessary time to drink a little water. You can carry a small bottle in your bag for when you realize you've been “dry” for many hours. This way, you’ll keep everything functioning as it should.
