The story behind Nevería Roxy

The Nevería Roxy is a must-stop for locals, but it opened its doors in Guadalajara, Jalisco, in the 1940s. 

In those years, its delicious creations could be enjoyed at the Cine Roxy. The founder, Carlos Gallardo, was inspired by the lemon snow he ate as a child and set out to develop natural ice creams and snow cones. 

Years later, in 1946, Nevería Roxy opened its doors in the Condesa neighborhood of Mexico City. According to their website, Don Carlos was in charge of serving at the soda fountain, while his wife, María Luisa Rubio, prepared the ice creams and snow cones.
