This
cookie is one of the most iconic desserts of
Christmas. It is loved by the whole family and can be very fun if you gather the whole family to prepare and decorate them.

You have probably seen them around, in the shape of little dolls, snow-covered houses, Santa Claus, and even sleighs. The
gingerbread cookies have gained international fame due to their association with the Christmas holidays. As we have seen in previous notes, the month of December is very prone to be associated with dishes and
drinks that are highly spiced, such as punch and romeritos. This is because autumn and winter are the two seasons of the year where many spices like cinnamon, and of course, ingredients like ginger are found in their natural state.
Now, it is a myth that these
cookies are made with a simple regular dough and a bit of ginger because what gives them their characteristic flavor is the combination of various spices. It is rare to find gingerbread where you do not find hints of cumin, nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove. Thanks to this mix, they obtain that earthy and brown color in addition to that very identifiable flavor.
When we talk about decoration, the sky is the limit, and the pure inspiration from
Christmas is enough to let the imagination fly. The first thing you need to get is cookie cutters in various shapes. The most common ones are the ones we mentioned: houses, dolls, and Santa Claus, and you can find them in any baking supply store. If you want to go a step further in terms of presentation, then we give you a couple of tips.
The first is guaranteed to amaze. The idea is to make snow globes, yes, like those that you flip over and snow and glitter swirl everywhere. All you have to do is fill a cupcake mold to the brim with whipped cream or with the same cupcake topped with white frosting and stick your preferred gingerbread figure on top, preferably a small one if possible. To finish, sprinkle powdered sugar over the figure and then cover it with a small circular glass or hollow sphere that you can find in your craft and convenience stores. This way, that little glass will give the effect of being the snow globe, and your cookie will be the center of attention; if you serve the dessert this way at one of your dinners, we assure you it will be a success.
Another idea is to share the experience with the kids and family. For this, you just need to make various cookies of different sizes and shapes and leave them intact after they come out of the oven. On the other hand, prepare containers with white, red, and green frostings that everyone can use to personalize their own cookies and thus share a magical moment of
Christmas.
