We are in the December season, very close to
Christmas and New Year. During this time, many are wondering how to save on
Christmas shopping.
We know that expenses in December are inevitable and the issue of saving worries some. In light of this, we offer some tips.
An important part of the Christmas budget is allocated to food purchases, and there are several ways to cut costs when buying food for Christmas.
The first step is to make a good planning of menus, family gatherings, shopping lists, and preparation dates for dishes (
see Christmas menus). One of the challenges of Christmas is to have everything ready on the day of the celebration so that everyone can enjoy Christmas. The answer lies in planning ahead and utilizing the freezer.
Make space in the freezer and stock up on essentials: we can buy (or make) bread and rolls in bulk and store them perfectly in the freezer. The more dishes that can be prepared in advance and frozen, the better. Not only to get ahead of the preparation work but also because the sooner we buy the ingredients, the cheaper they will be. The price of food (especially those considered Christmas food) rises as we get closer to Christmas (especially
fish and seafood).
Try to make as much as possible at home. Making nougat instead of buying it is cheaper, and it is a fun recipe to make (
see nougat recipes). We can also make traditional
cookies or
Christmas cakes and other holiday sweets (
see Christmas dessert recipes).
Another significant expense in many households during Christmas is the purchase of beverages - wines, sparkling wines, and spirits. Often, it is cheaper to buy wine online. Once again, we emphasize the importance of making a shopping list for beverages and wines for Christmas according to the budget and menu planning. We can also apply the technique of preparing drinks at home (
see Christmas drink and cocktail recipes).
