Making a salad may not have much science behind it, unless you use bad lettuce or a not-so-tasty dressing, but it doesn't hurt to follow a few tips on how to make the most perfect summer salad.

Everyone has their own tastes, but what would the perfect summer salad be like? Essentially, it should encompass the concept of freshness, or everything you think represents summer: fruits, vegetables, nuts, whatever you desire.

This is the time to take advantage of everything in season, for example, if you are going to use fruits, choose strawberries, pears, raspberries, figs, which pair perfectly with cheeses like blue cheese or even goat cheese. These fruits, besides refreshing us, have bright colors and sweet flavors.

Remember that avocado is a fruit too and is typical of summer, and combined with lettuce, chicken, and tomatoes could be your ideal summer salad.

If you want to add vegetables, those that are at their peak during summer are zucchini, onion, carrot, lettuce, of course, cucumber, and red pepper are some that you can mix to create your dream summer salad.

There isn't a single perfect recipe for a summer salad, but using seasonal ingredients ensures a very fresh result. To give you concrete ideas, try these formulas:

- Spinach, strawberries, mushrooms, onion, avocado, and fresh cheese, accompanied by a strawberry vinaigrette made with olive oil, white vinegar, strawberries, salt, and pepper. Check the complete step-by-step here.

- Potatoes, red onion, cucumber, green beans, cooked black beans, tomato, fresh cheese, all simply dressed with lime juice, salt, and pepper. The recipe to make this salad is here.

- Finally, try a mix of jicama, cucumber, carrots, and pineapple, with a vinaigrette made with tangerine juice, olive oil, and white vinegar. Check the complete recipe here.
