Did you know that Twister is a game that was presented for patenting by Charles F. Foley and Rabens Neil in 1966, but it didn't become a success until Eva Gabor played it with Johnny Carson on a television show on May 3, 1966. Basically, Twister is played on a plastic mat that is spread on a flat surface; this mat serves as a game board, featuring four lines of large colored circles with a different color in each line: red, yellow, blue, and green. Additionally, there is a board that includes a spinner, which acts as a die for the game, and is divided into four different sections: right foot, left foot, right hand, and left hand. Each of the four sections is divided into four colors (red, yellow, blue, and green). After spinning, the combination is called (example: right hand yellow) and players must move that hand or foot to a circle of that color. In a two-player game, no one can have their hands or feet in the same circle—rules differ for more players. Due to the scarcity of colored circles, players will often have to get into uncomfortable positions, eventually causing someone to fall. A person is eliminated when they fall or when their elbow or knee touches the mat. There is no limit to how many can play in a game, but more than four will be very tight.
