The Day of the Dead in Mexico has formed as a tradition over many years, which involves a variety of activities and very marked traditions. Furthermore, these traditions date back long before the arrival of the Spaniards. It is during these dates that colors, flavors, and aromas mix, and it is when we perfectly know that the celebration and honor for those who have passed, not only recently but many years ago, have taken place. We can see in various parts of the Mexican Republic a diversity of foods in honor of the dead. For example, altars are a traditional action where a series of dishes and drinks that were liked by the people we want to remember are placed on a surface. And just like altars, we can find sweets in the shape of skulls, decorations in homes, and many flowers.
